Palak Paneer- Easy And Delicious Palak Paneer Recipe

Palak Paneer or thick spinach curry with cottage cheese recipe originated in northern India and it is a very popular main course dish of this region. Palak paneer is a delicious dish with rich nutrients benefits of spinach and cottage cheese (paneer) perfectly blended with a balanced taste of Indian spices.

Ingredients for palak paneer recipe:-

  • Spinach (palak)- 2 bunches, cleaned
  • Ginger- 1 inch
  • Garlic- 2, 3 cloves
  • Green chili- 2 green chili
  • Oil/ghee- 2 tbsp
  • Onion- 2 medium size onions, chopped
  • Tomato- 2 medium size (puree)
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Paneer or cottage cheese- 200 gm


Step 1:-

Select fresh spinach leaves and cleaned them.


Step 2:-

In a vessel or pot, cook spinach leaves in boiling water for 3-4 minutes and immediately transfer them into ice-cold water (this process is called blanching). Put these leaves into a mixer grinder and make a smooth paste from it.

Step 3:-

Heat oil/ghee in a pan and add chopped onion into it. Cook chopped onion until they turns golden brown.


Step 4:-

Make a paste of tomatoes, ginger, green chili, and garlic together. Add this puree into the pan. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt into this mixture and cook until oil separates.


Step 5:-

Add prepared spinach (palak) puree into the gravy of onion-tomatoes and spices. Cook it for 1 to 2 minutes. Now add paneer cubes and mix well.


Step 6:-

Serve this delicious palak-paneer with chapati or naan or rice.
